ANNALES HISTORICO-NATURALES MUSEI NATIONALIS HUNGARICI Tomus 64. 1972. Data to the Systematics of the Sections Bulbosae and Caespitosae of the Genus Koeleria. X. By J. ÚJHELYI, Budapest The present paper deals with an evolutionary elaboration of some further critical taxa of the Sections designated in the title; this is not a comprehensive study and treats only the already clarified and described taxa relegated to the Series. Similarly to the preceding papers, all evaluations spring from an evolutionary standpoint, attempting to escape the temptation of systematizing. Insofar as I was able to do so, I tried to reconstruct past processes, and not to justify preconceived points of view. The recognition of series, in-the present case mostly polyploid ones, resulting from an evolution enacted in the historic past, becomes more and more difficult in the still unidentified material — this is but natural, since to find well characterized types, adapted to extreme conditions, and their evolutionary place was a considerably easier task. A similar elaboration of the rest of the European taxa is a dire project, owing partly to the incompleteness of the available material partly, to the extensive uniformizál ion of the related species. For the purposes of also this paper, I applied my method of making epidermic preparations and microscopic photographs of equal magnification from all specimens of the material studied. For my reconstructions, 1 also made use of my experiences in the field and those gained from observations made on live material. The following herbarial materials have been studied : the Herbarium of the Botanical Garden and the Botanical Institute of the University of Zurich (Z); the Herbarium of the Systematic; Botanical Institute of the University of Prague (PRC); the Herbarium of the Institute for Systematic Botany and Phytogeography of the University of Budapest (BPU), and the Collection of the Botanical Department of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest (BP). Additional problems concerning the Cristatae verae c. Bobustae Domin In my latest Koeleria paper (ÚJHELYI, 1970), I submitted a clarification of two subspecies relegated under the collective name Koeleria pyramidata DOMIN spec. coll. of K. DOMLTST. However, no taxonomic criticism was made of the several varieties and of Koeleria genevensis DOMIN, assigned to the Section Robustae. To date, I came to the following conclusions in this respect: Not only Koeleria pyramidata spec, coll., but also DOMIN'S Subspecies I. Koeleria pyramidata (LAM.) DOMIN, is a mixtum compositum harbouring taxa relegable to four scries (1907). The taxon 1. var. ciliata (KERN.) DOMIN represents partly Koeleria mollis MANN, partly several species of the Scries Ciliatae UJH. I saw two specimens of 4. var. glaberrima DOMIN. One of them derives from the Alpes Maritimes, collected by REVERCHON (Riossredo, 10 August, 1886, Herbarium K. DOMIN, duplicatum Herbarium K. DOMINI (PRC)]. Also the anatomical features of the plant demonstrate that we have to deal with Koeleria mollis MANN.
