hairiness and the absence of the ostiolum give an extraordinary appearance to this fungus, closely allied in the development of the primary appendage to the other species of the genus Pleurage. Unfortunately, I have repeatedly failed to obtain cultures on artificial substrates. Prior to this occasion, I have already found this fungus twice, but I succeeded only now to collect fruitbodies under development, and thereby to identify the species. 4349.
