Móczár, L.: Remarks of some types of Drynini and Gonatopodini (Hymenoptera)

of the small differences between KIEFFER'S original description the lecto- and paralectotypes of. G. gracilipes. Gonatopus marshalli was placed doubtfully into synonymy with Neogonatopus lunatus KLUG by RICHARDS after the examination of the type of lunatus (Berlin) and supposing, that "The type of G. marshalli KIEFFER, 1905, should'be in T. A. MARSHALL'S collection, which is lost. The description reads like that of a pale specimen of the present (= lunatus KLUG) species". RICHARD'S (1939 p. 217) redescription of G. lunatus KLUG differs only in three small characters from G. marshalli as follows: 1. "thickest part of femora fore two and a half times as thick as distal end of tibia", the proportion on the types of marshalli = 8 : 4.5; on the types of gracilipes =8:5 and on the types of lunatus = 8 : 5, 8 : 4.5, 9 : 5, 8 : 4.5 and 8 : — 2. lunatus KLUG "metathorax+propodeum (part behind postscutellar depression). . . whole surface dull and alutaceous nowhere striate"; on marshalli from England: both sides of propodeum very slightly striated, middle alutaceous part more extensive; on marshalli from Corsica and on gracilipes (on six lecto- and paralectotypes and six other Hungarian specimens) : middle alutaceous part smaller and the slight wrinkles of both sides discernible already in dorsal view and wrinkles also more distinct. I found that lunatus KLUG specimens 1 — 4 are similar to marshalli specimens from England ; the 5th specimen of lunatus from Berlin resembles more gracilipes concerning the propodeum, however, neither do these differ essentially to warrant their separation as distinct species. — 3. On lunatus KLUG.: "enlarged claw with ... six bristles . . tarsal segment 5 ... a row of 12—21 long lamellae . . ."; on marshalli: enlarged claw with 5 bristles, tarsal segment 5 with 14—16 lamellae; on gracilipes: enlarged claw with 5—6—7 bristles, tarsal segment 5 with 16—17 lamellae. Owing to these differences, and in my opinion the lunatus KLUG, marshalli KIEFFER, and gracilipes KIEFFER represent the same species.
