Móczár, L.: Remarks of some types of Drynini and Gonatopodini (Hymenoptera)

Remarks of Some Types of Dryinini and Gonatopodini (Hymenoptera) By L. MÓCZÁR, Budapest From the Bethyloid material collected mainly by L. BÍRÓ and deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, KIEFFER described a considerable number of new species (chiefly 1905 — 6), but, in accordance with his custom, he failed to give them an identification label. On the other hand, the MARSHALL Collection, allegedly lost but present in our Museum, bears not only MARSHALL'S but frequently also KIEFFER'S labels; however, the label identifying the type-specimen was added only later by BÍRÓ. Since KIEFFER'S descriptions are, in many cases, unreliable and the species cannot be recognized from them, I propose to designate in the tribes treated below, the types of the respective species and, instead of lengthy redescriptions, correct the several characteristics given incorrectly by KIEFFER, MARSHALL, and SZÉPLIGETI in the original description or in subsequent communications, and to relegate them to their rightful genera. The detailed or shortened general diagnoses derived from a study of the type-specimens, as well as the simplest and most distinctive characters of the related species are condensed, for the sake of an easy survey and to obviate repetitions, in a key for identification. For the various help rendered in my work, I am greatly indebted to Prof. O. W. RICHARDS, Dr. J. F. PERKINS, London, Miss S. KELNER-PILLAULT, Paris, Dr. E. KOENIGSMANN, Berlin, Dr. Z. BOUÖEK, Prague and Mr. C. YOSHIMOTO, Honolulu. I wish to thank them alsoin this place. The proportions given in the descriptive text were obtained, if not stated otherwise, at a magnification of 40 by a binocular microscope. 1. Tribe: Dryinini 1. Lobes of pronotum almost reaching the tegulae. Frons (also upper face) slightly convex and on a level with eyes. Notauli not distinct. Fore trochanter relatively short, hardly as long as twice its distal breadth (Richardsidryinus gen. n.). Tibial spurs, 1, 1, 1. Both parts of the chela with lamellae (Fig. 31) R. corsicus (MARSHALL) — Lobes of pronotum separated from teguale by a distance extending at least its own length. Frons not convex, situated beneath level of eyes. Fore trochanter elongated, at least three times as long as its distal breadth. Head broader than thorax (fig. 5). Mesonotum with more or less complete notaulices. Enlarged claw of fore tarsi with lamellae or spines. Mandibles with 4 teeth (Dryinus LATREILLE) 2 2. t Ipper face finely reticulated or punctured. Greater part of pronotum shining, at most very slightly wrinkled 3 — Upper face, especially both sides of pronotum, longitudinally striated or rather strongly wrinkled, hardly shining. Notaulices well developed. Antennae when extended reach the abdomen 4 3. Head, thorax black. Lobe of pronotum separated from tegulae by somewhat more than its length. Upper face finely reticulated, shining. Pronotum around the disc rather shining, disc more reticulated almost slightly coriaceous. Notaulices not very distinct.
