Smit, F. G. A. M.: The zoological results of Gy. Topál's collectings in South Argentina 4. Siphonaptera
432 f. g. a. m. smit Maie (F ig. 6): fergum \III with 4—7 short setae anterior to spiracular fossa. Posterior margin of sternum VIII with a lateral rounded lobe, covering the proximal arm of sternum IX and the basal half of the corpus of clasper. Apodeme of tergum IX rather narrow and rounded dorso-anteriorly. Corpus of clasper very large (Fig. 6). with a fringe of short setae along dorsal margin and one of longer setae along the posterior margin as well as along the ventral margin; a number of slender setae on dorsolateral outer surface and a small patch of minute setae on inner surface; a spiculose membrane on middle of inner surface of corpus of clasper. Movable process straight and narrow, with subparallel margins, inserted some distance above middle of corpus of clasper; with one large sensillum dorso-anteriorly, six long setae along dorsal half of posterior margin and several minute setae on inner and outer surface. Proximal arm of sternum IX almost straight, fairly broad; distal arm also only slightly curved and with subparallel margins, with numerous small and mediumsized setae on apical half as shown in Fig. 6. Phallosome as shown on Pl. I Fig. 2. Female (Fig. 8): There is little to add to the original description of the terminal segments of the abdomen and genitalia of this sex. Sternum VII, spermatheca and ductus bursae of a specimen from El Bolsón is shown in Fig. 8. It is worth noting that the ductus bursae is not directed dorsad as in other fleas, but caudad and almost parallel with the dorsal wall of the vagina (this is also the case in the females of the other species of the genus).
