The period between the years 1945 and 1960 may be differentiated into three stages, as regards the character of the scientific research work. The period extending from 1945 to 1949 was characterized mainly by smaller, limited researches, in accordance with contemporary conditions, and due to the tasks of reconstruction. However, we have endeavoured even in these years, within the limits of possibilities, to set our problems and investigations with an eye on the whole of physical anthropology. Concerning anthropology in general, the organizing, installing, and commencement of work, of the anthropobiological laboratory was a most significant step. The chief projects of that time were our researches on the electroacoustics of the human voice, then the serum content, and serological-immunological, investigations. We worked out mono­graphically the acoustical investigations of series of individuals of different sexes and ages, with sonsiderable results. By conducting the serological and immunological investigations on populations, we strove to lay the foundations of later anthropological researches from a genetical point of view.
