Szemere, L.: First data of some macroscopic fungi from Hungary

fied by Knapp. Hollós states in bis work [The Subterranean Fungi of Hungary, p, 14], published in 1911, that the utter lack of the Terfezia species of the Mediterranean floral region is characteristical of the subterranean fungous flora of Hungary. However, he found a Terfezia species [T. mattirolonis Ed. Fischer] in Szekszárd, on 27 July 1915. Later, he found this species again, partly near Szekszárd, partly in Kiskajdacs, in 1919, 1920, 1923, 1927. J. Bánhegyi collected it in the locust-tree woods of the Kecel, in June —November, 1947. It is worthy of note that this new locality lies in about the same line with those of Com. Tolna, but on the left side of the Danube. This fungus was later removed by Ed. Fischer from the genus Terfezia, and he named it Mattirolomyces terfezioides. Thus, Terfezia leptoderma remains, for the time being, the sole Hungarian Terfezia datum, since another fungus of mine, classified at first as a Terfezia \T, magnusii Matt.], was relegated later to the Choiromyces. Knapp discusses my fungus for several pages in the Schweizerische Zeitschrift für Pilzkunde, 30, 1952, p. 35—37. wondering over the possibilities of a Terfezia occuring in an area between the latitudes 46—47. He remarks that, until somebody works out monographically the genus Terfezia, containing more than 20 species, the identification of the Hungarian Terfezia can be only temporary, due to the very similar T. fanfani Matt., T. olbiensis Tub, and T. goffurtii Chat.). — Tuber ferrugineum Vitt., Pamuk, 1 August 1951, Szemére. — Tuber malaeodermum Ed.
