Coot (Fulica atra atra L.) I observed it only on the reservoir of the oasis Kom Oshim ; a total of 15 specimens between 7—12 October. Judged by local conditions, the specimens noted should have belonged to the local population. Common Crane (Grus grus grus L.) There were 3 specimens on a large inundated territory of the Nile below Luxor on 22 October. With regard to the fact that the North-European specimens abide yet in Central Europe at that time, the specimens observed could have belonged to the earlier migrating SW Asiatic population (W. Libbert.) Ringed Plover (Charadrius hiaticula tundrae Lowe) I observed about 150 specimens, in flocks of 20—40 individuals, on the S shore of the Lake Karun on 10 October. I shot one specimen. I noted further a single bird (which I also collected) on the shore of the island El Arn in the Lake Karun on 13 October. I met with 6 specimens on the shore of the Red Sea, between Quseir and Hurghada on 3 — 5 November. The specimens noted indicate both temporally and locally the normal fall migration of the subspecies under discussion (tundrae Lowe). Kentish Plover (Leucopolius alexandrinus alexandrinus L.) With regard to the fact that individuals of the nominate form breed also in Egypt, it cannot be judged — by the specimens observed — whether they were local or migrating birds. The ones noted on the Red Sea in November were probably already migrants. I observed a total of 367 specimens ; 15 in the Delta of the Nile (Abu Rawash), 12 in the oasis Kom Oshim, 259 on the Lake Karun, 1 in the vicinity of Sohag, 69 in the coastal region of the Red Sea (from Marsa el 'Alam to Hurghada), 11 in Helwan. The species was recorded in the Delta on 24 September, in Kom Oshim on 9, 11, 12 October, on the Lake Karun on 10, 13 October, at Sohag on 19 October, at the Red Sea on 1 November (Marsa el 'Alam), on 2 November (Quseir), on 4 November (Hurghada), and at Helwan on 17 November. Kittlitz's Sand-plover (Charadrius pecuarius pecuarius Temm.) I observed and shot 2 specimens near Abu Rawash in the Delta of the Nile on 24 September. The species belongs to the regular breeding fauna of Egypt. Great Sand-plover (Charadrius leschenaultii Less.) I observed a flock of 47 specimens on the shore of the Red Sea at Hurghada on 5 November. With regard to the fact that the species also breeds in the coastal area of the Red Sea in Egypt, the record is faunistically not striking. I collected 3 females.
