Farkas, H. ; Vágvölgyi, J.: On the fauna of the springs of Hungary. I. Mts. Dunazug
T. J o ó enumerates 137 springs on this area. Of these, we have examined 28. This resulted from the fact that collecting in the springs takes a lot of time on the one hand, and that a considerable amount of the springs mapped out by T. J o ó were but dripping, basinless springs, in which the collecting of animals and the taking of water samples would have meant grave difficulties on the other hand. The springs examined belong to the river-systems of the streams Apátkúti, Lepence, Szőke, Malom and Pilis (see Map). The springs of the first four streams all well from andezité or andezité tuff, whilst some of the springs of the fifth gain their water from limestone. During the course of the working out of the collected material, we have finished with the Crustaceans (H. Farkas), and the Mollusks (J. Vágvölgyi). The present paper sums up the modest results of the examination of the above two groups. The short description of the 28 springs studied is as follows : Spring 1. Kőtáró-forrás. North to Pilisszentkereszt, on the right side of the Kanyargó brook. A framed spring. Height a. s. 1.: 390 m. Date of collecting: 26 May, 1955. Aerial temperature : 22 °C ; water temperature : 9 °C ; pH 7,05.
