Wagner, J.: New systematical researches on carnivorous slugs

57 this typical and largely developed animal of Asia minor were studied in detail by A. J. W a g n e r (5, p. 14—15, Taf. 3, Fig. 19—20) who, having made careful investigations, strongly emphasised its special position in the system of the Daudebardias. As regards the Daudebardia Naegelei only young specimens have been found. They were described by Boettger (1, p. 100) in 1905 and were also ranged among the Libanias. (The place where they have been found is the deposit of the river Sarus near Adana). We may classify the Daudebardia peculiaris Stef. of the Upper Pliocene age (Astien) among the Libanias with still greater reservation. The remnants of its shell were found near Siena in 1880. The close connection of the three recent species (of the Daudebardia Saulcyi, Naegelei and aleppoica) is made probable by the fact that they have been found fairly near each other in Asia minor. Daudebardia (Carpathíca) calophana var. pallida nov. var. It differs from the typical form on account of its very light colouring. The animals when fully grown are still quite light, in fact almost white with a hardly perceivable grayish violet shading. Their shell is also quite light. They have only been found in the forests around Tusnádfürdő (Transylvania). LITERATUR. 1. Boettgier, O.: Die Kotnchylien aus den Anspülungen des Sarus-Flusses bei Adana in Cilicien.
