Wagner, J.: New systematical researches on carnivorous slugs

Annales Historico-Naturales Musei Nationalis Hungarici Vol. XXXVIII. Budapest, 1945. No. 3, p. 53—57. Redigit: V. Székessy. NEW SYSTEMATICAL RESEARCHES ON CARNIVOROUS SLUGS. By J. Wagner (Budapest) . During my researches made on native and exotic carnivorous slugs last year, I found several such forms, which have so far been unknown in science. I wish to sum up the results of my investigations in the following. While studying the Daudebardias of the Caucasus S i m r o t h examined the anatomic peculiarities of several species of the Daudebardias. His researches made it clear that as regards the construction of their reproductive organs three species are so very different from those which have been known so far that they must, at any rate, be classified in special groups. In his work published in 1912 S i m r o t h already made some distinctions among them without, however, precisely circumscribing them and giving them independent systematologic groups marked by special names (3, p. 87—88). As all the species investigated live in Szuchum, a province situated in the western part of the Caucasus, in the following I set up the new subgenus „Szuchumiella " for them. Szuchumiella n. subgen. As regards the species of the new subgenus the chief characteristic, which distinguish them from all the other Daudebardia-groups, are that on their reproductive organs the continuation of the atrium genitale is not the oviduct but the highly developed stem of spermatheca which is connected with the very narrow oviduct on the sides at
