according to MÉHELY 1 and Hátszeg according to MILLEE. 2 We have to strike of the locality Pákozd, since the supposed Pitymys subterraneus of Pákozd proved to be a young Arvicola according to later determination. For the sake of historic completeness, I have to mention that the name Microtus subterraneus has been corrected on the label of the Pákozd specimen preserved in the National Museum by MÉHELY himself into „ young Arvicola terrestris L." He mentions the Pitymys subterraneus in his treatise ..Present state of Hungarian Mammology" 3 only from Hátszeg according to the catalogue of MILLEE. I class it also as a member of Hungarian Fauna in my specifying work 4 without mentioning its locali" ties. I described a new Pitymys species in 1924 from the alps of Fogaras under the name P. transsylvanicus ÉHIK. 5 Mr. EUGENE GEESCHIK enumerates in one of his papers treatise published in 1924 6 the Pitymys subterraneus in our country from the following localities : Győr, Markotabödöge (Győr county), Likócs (Győr county), Makád (Pest county), the county of Sopron, Bogyoszló (Sopron county), Óverbász (Bácsbodrog county), Forotik (Krassó-Szörény county) Németlad (Somogy c), Iharosberény (Somogy c), Velence (Fejér c), Csala (Fehér c), Kőszeg (Vas c), Komárom, Keszegfalva (Komárom c), Megyeres (Komárom c), Szigetcsép (Pest c), Bés (Ung c), Felka (Szepes c), Nagyhalmágy (Arad c), Ötvenes (Arad c), Babapuszta (Bács-Bodrog c), in 50 speci1 BREHM-MÉHELY : Az állatok világa.
