INVESTIGATIONS ON PARAGUAYAN BATRACHIANS. ál 5 spots between the eyes, sometimes the upper surface of the snout also spotted. The largest female with a rosatre-white, broad (3 mm.) band from snout to vent. Beneath white. Upper lip edged with a dark-brown band, which is punctulated with white ; from end of snout through the nostril to the eye and behind the eve, in front, above and behind the tympanum to the arm some dark-brown spots, more or less confluent into an irre­gular band. Between the canthal and labial band a more or less distinct white or bright-greyish stripe, connected with the fine white edge of the tympanum and extended to the arm. Tympanum all round edged with a tine white line, only on the upper edge interrupted with the dark-brown postorbital spot. Hindei side of thighs black-and-white marbled. I I. Toes strongly fringed on each side. Between the two dorsolateral glandular fold four, outwards from these two folds on each side. Olive above with roundish dark spots, bisected through the longitudinal folds. Upper lip dark olive­grey, spotted with white; lover lip and sides of the throat dark grey, with roundish white spots.
