palace and the castle into a seminary. The abandoned architectural plans made for the see, the Rococo wooden furnishing and the pictorial programme of the cathedral are important documents which are barely known and can be placed in a new context using the fresh data found in the course of archival research. István Németh: Documents on Marcell Nemes found in German archives, 12 November István Németh provided an overview about documents of source value he had found in various German archives concerning the famous Hungarian art collector, Marcell Jánoshalmi Nemes (1866-1930). He pointed out the importance of the inventory and account books of the Böhler estate, preserved in the Bayerisches Wirtschaftsarchiv in Munich, and gave a detailed account of Marcell Nemes's original last will and testament, which he had found in the Staatsarchiv in Munich. He also drew attention to the important documents in the holdings of the Zentralarchiv der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin, such as the itemised list of artefacts from the Nemes estate that were deposited at the Dresdner Bank. Ferenc Gosztonyi: Supplement to the career of Simon Meiler, 3 December The lecture focused on a hitherto lesser known episode of the scientific career of Simon Melier (1875-1949), a legendary figure in the history of the Museum of Fine Arts. In 1906, when he worked at the museum as a curator, Meiler applied for a tutorial position at the Budapest university of arts and sciences to teach a lecture course entitled "Art history from the fifteenth century to the present day". His habilitation as a tutor was obstructed by Gyula Pasteiner (1846-1924), his former professor and the head of the department. The administrative events that went on at the university from 1906 to 1910 and in the end led to a scandal at the humanities faculty have now been uncovered, using new, especially archival sources. A hypothesis has also been formed in regard to the possible connection between the unsuccessful application of Melier and another application for a tutorial position, submitted by the sudent, Tibor Gerevich (1882-1954) and supported by Pasteiner, which resulted in the latter's appointment in 1911.
