34. Luminenscent photograph taken under ultraviolet light The macro detail that was made by applying videomicrography (fig. 35) shows the characteristic tracery and the deep furrows of the craquelure that regularly weaves through the entire surface of the painting. The unevenly spread grains of hand-ground paint are also made visible. The painting was inspected by infra-red reflectography (IRR), as well. 5 It did not reveal extensive underdrawing (fig. 36); nevertheless, some fine contour lines applied with a brush can be observed, e.g., under the left hand resting upon the orb or the Tshaped band which surmounts the crystal sphere. The artist might have developed the 5 IRR inspection was carried out with a Spectra NIR-1000 camera, an NIR2 IR-filter. Wavelength: 850 nm. Reflectograms were made by dividing the surface of the painting into nine squares of identical size. The details were handled and adjusted by using Adobe Photoshop 5.0.
