VOZIL, IRÉN: Technical analysis, restoration and evaluation of material testing of the bronze statuette of Imhotep
Péter Gaboda suggested and also supported an earlier dating (the beginning of the Saite Period) for our statue on the basis of various new aspects and methods refuting the earlier concept of dating it to the Ptolemaic Period. 26 After comparing it with other statuettes 27 dated accurately and made with a similar quality, and considering the results of material testing, production technology, the processing marks and ornamental details becoming apparent as a result of the restoration, I also concluded that the Imhotep statue must have been produced during Dynasty XXVI. Based on the results of material testing and the investigation of the method of production it is concluded that the chair and the base might have been made even earlier, before the period of Dynasty XXVI.
