Kovács Zsuzsa: „Ahol most az olajosok területe van, mind a mi határunkhoz tartozott”– Falusi mindennapok Gellénházán az olajipar fellendülésének időszakában
Zsuzsa Kovács "There where you see now the oil production, that used to be all our fields" - Daily life in the village of Gellénháza in the time of the upswing of oil production During my research carried out in Gellénháza 1 was looking for an answer to the question about the impact of the oil production on the farms and village lifestyle. We have stated the village society's double judgment about the presence of the oil industry: the people feel sorry for their expropriated fields; on the other hand, they admit that it provided good job opportunities. The possibility of employment in the industry as well as the employment of women increased the families' income from wages, so gradually they detach themselves from the fields and this encourages a way of thinking in terms of near future. The study of lifestyle revealed that the cubehouses in Gellénháza built in the 1960s due to advantageous credits, are furnished with industrial furniture. Dietary habits have also changed in this period. Bread is bought in the shop, more and more sweetmeats are consumed and households get used to cook noodles purchased in the shop. Furthermore, the availability of refrigerators has considerably transformed the cooking habits. 210
