The back room has not lost its role as a pantry, for there are milk-jugs hanging in a row according to their size, and beneath them a row of large glazed pots for plum-jam. The jar for lard is also kept in this room, and on a rod hanging from the ceiling are extra floor-sacks, also herbs each in a little linen bag, seeds and dried noodles. Two large green-glazed wine jugs with relief decoration are also in this room. The pattern on the window curtains is a favourite, a row of young ladies woven into the linen (111. 29.). Corn is kept in a separate structure, a bin called a „kamra" which stands in the yard (2—4). The corn bin in this yard is supported by six posts, and the iron work of its base is filled in with boards. The door of the bin is opposite the dwelling house, and columns support the roof which forms a sort of porch in front (111. 30.). The roof is covered with shingles. Inside this bin there is a wooden board floor and upon this is the granary hewn nout of oak with compartments for wheat, barley and rye. If there was not enough room in these for all the corn, the rest would be poured into sacks; these stood in a row with other sacks into which wheat had been put preparatory to being taken to the mill, while other IV \ V -V -Y 3 T / "V "T" -V A \ \ _A J 30.
