Cseri Miklós - Sári Zsolt (szerk.): Szerencsemalac, A mangalica. Skanzen füzetek 2. (Szentendre, Szabadtéri Néprajzi Múzeum, 2009)

The Mangalica is old Hungarian pig breed, which is now becoming more popular again. Where he comes from, why we consider him to be healthy, how use today, these are the questions we answer in this book. While starving is a biological drive, food and eating do not only serve to satisfy mere physical needs. The food all around the world is made of different ingredients, using various cooking methods and also, meals were consumed in a different order and frequency during the ages. Todays feeding trend is also known as 'McDonaldisation ' which is characterized by unification and fast food. The reason of unification comes from the ever growing mass production and mass distribution. While the food companies encourage us to excessive eating, our habits of food consumption were determined by such factors as societys push to have the ideal body type or the lipo-phobic opinions that want to ban fat everywhere. Special thanks to Zsuzsanna Szabó, who was my companion and helper in this European project: „Cult-Rural. Promotion of a Cultural Area Common to European Rural Communities". Thanks to the Rendek Organic Farm in Kerekegyháza, the ..Kistücsök" Restaurant in Balatonszemes and Balazs Csapody for the cooperation. mmimMB j mBSKm eUÊImiâÊlim
