MEDICAL HISTORY IN HUNGARY - E. Schultheisz L. Tardy: Summing-up of the Past and Present of Hungary's Medicohistorical Research Work (in English)

book "Those who conquered the diseases" (Budapest, 1963), of an'all-round medicohistorical value. Beside of studies dealing with general medical history, Lajos Szodoray has contributed to the literature, especially data referring to dermato venerology. Sándor Fekete's most significant medicohistorical studies are dealing with the life and work of Semmelweis [16]. Balázs Bugyi , on the other hand, has published papers on several parts of medical history, especially in the field of the history of radiology. * The present work, without thriving for completeness, was aimed to present the concised picture of medicohistorical research work and the development of special literature in Hungary. It has to be pointed out that not every book bearing the work " história" in its title is a work of medical history. This is best proved by János Orlay's dissertation (... sistens doctrinae de viribus naturae . .. históriám ...) (Dorpat, 1807) which Tibor Győry, in his otherwise excellent bibliography has specified as a medicohistorical dissertation, (P. 169) although it says only a few words in the introduction of historical references, Cfr. Schoepf has not exerted any medicohistorical activity. Notes by L. Harangĥÿ and Gy. Regöly-Mérei referring to Schoepf's "Medicohistorical works" (Magyar Tudomány, 1964. 2. 69.) are erronous. Cfr.
