Karabuda writes a letter to the Dean on 24 November 1948 again, telling that he still has some hope and wishes to keep the subject amount until the end of first week of December, after which he would immediately return the money. Afterwards the hope must have absolutely turned to hopelessness, as the Dean writes to Karabuda on 31 January 1949 that he safely received the amount returned to' Karabuda. In the Balogh file, there is also a letter sent to Balogh on April 5, 1948 by a French colleague, showing that Balogh was in touch with the Experimental Cancer Research Center in Paris. This letter also demonstrates that Balogh searched ways to work in countries other than Turkey, as his trip to Turkey was getting more and more difficult due to certain problems. Conclusion The unconcluded attempt of Prof. Balogh to work for Istanbul University is certified in this article, with letters signed by the professor himself and the replies given to these letters by the University. Balogh's efforts also enlighten the post-war inner dissolution process of the universities which were directly effected by the Second World War. The three letters signed by Balogh are presented here for the first time in this article, expressing his passion for scientific materials and his desperate efforts not to lose them, and showing us in a most impressive way a real scientist and his whole-hearted devotion to his studies.
