extreme rightist ideas gained ground in the leadership of the League. This was partly the pretext of the postwar attacks on the organisation. Again in 1945 a ministerial commissioner was appointed to the League, namely the wife of the Moscow trained communist leader and former NKVD officer, Ernő Gero. In the following years the League was marginalised by the Ministry of Home Affairs though its termination came only in 1949, which ceased off its services forever during the socialist system. Its property has been nationalised and divided among other organisations.
