TANULMÁNYOK — ESSAYS - Kemenes Pál: Dudith András (1533—1589) gondolatai a medicináról
Dudith expected radically empirical behaviour from the researchers of medicine. He wished to build medicine upon the close connection of theory and practice. In his cognitive conception critical attitude dominated, which corresponded to contemporary views considerably limiting the validity of earlier knowledge. In the case of medicine Dudith believed that the long-term objective of cognition is effort to obtain new experience, which means partial negation of the earlier knowledge. Behind Dudith's opinion doubt about the stability of the scientific background, characteristic of the second half of the 16th century, is hiding. The significance of Dudith in the history of medicine is due to his epidemiological viewes coming from his conception of nature ahead of his age.
