widerspread in Hungary, even the one caused by PI falciparum. In 1936 the World Health Organization registered Hungary as one the countries where malaria has been eradicated. In the last 15-20 years, however, a lot of young people came from Africa and elsewhere for training at our universities or obtaining qualifications and they often brought in malaria. Apart from them, Hungarian people have also been travelling to Africa and other parts of the world and some of them brought back malaria. In spite of the fact that malaria is a curable disease and few people are misdiagnosed, we still call it an invincible disease. We hope, howerer that sooner or later it will disappear. B.
