who determined, who discovered, or who confirmed them. The are the fundamentals, anonymously, like the muscle-graphs of Jendrassik. Tangl and his colleagues have showed that the transformation of the larva into pupa requires much more energy than that of the pupa into insect. They found that with the various species the metamorphosis requires the same amount of energy correlated to the weight of the anhydrous material of the organism. They found that even the energy needed to the evolution of the hen-embryo corresponded to that. These findings are valid today as well. * It is certain that in the school of experimental medical science the initiative came from Jendrassik, the development is connected with Kálmán Balogh, and experimentation was raised to the highest international standard by Endre Hőgyes. In the following generation both the need for it and the school itself disseminated and spread so widely that it exercised its influence in nearly all the branches of the science. Following the three great founders Ferenc Tangl and the clinician Sándor Korányi applied the approach with an ease quite natural and reaped the deserved laurels. And we, today's generation of physicians possessing a wide track cut by them, and under the effects of the education received from them, use the methods and approach of experimental medicine as a routine possibility. l'J Orvostörténeti Közlemények 57—59
