Nagy örömömre szolgált, hogy ezt a szerény kis megemlékezést megírhattam róla. Tárgyilagos igyekeztem lenni, hiszen a menye voltam, de ő nagynevű apjának méltó leánya volt. Summary The author — whose husband was the grandson of Semmelweis — is recalling in a remembrance of personal tone the memory of those members of the Semmelweis' family whom she personally knew. She is recalling two daughters of Semmelweis: Antonia, her mother-in-law and Margaret and their mother, Semmelweis' widow, Maria Weidenhofer, of whom she is giving an interesting character-drawing. She is remembering her uncles, the Walthier-brothers. We can learn the story of the Magyarization of the Semmelweis surname (from Semmelweis to Szemerényi). She is recalling the friends of the family : such as the medical professors Emil Grosz, Korányi, Bókay, Tauffer, Verebély or as the great Hungarian writer, Zsigmond Kemény and other outstanding personalities of the Hungarian scientific and public life of that time.
