Schon allein die Tatsache, dass es mir gelungen ist, Daten über mehr als 400 ungarische Ärzte-Medaillen zu sammeln, bezeugen die Berechtigung dieses Kataloge». Wie alle ähnlichen Werke, weist auch diese Zusammenstellung — ich bin mir dessen bewusst —, Mängel auf. Der Leser wird aber, wenn er im ähnlichen Werk von Storer gründlich inachliest, feststellen müssen, dass der amerikanische Verfasser sich gezwungen sah, seinen beleibten Band mit mehreren Anhängen, auch auf Grund der Arbeit von Faludi, zu ergänzen, weil er nachträglich mit neuerem Material bekannt geworden war. Ich werde jedenfalls ein mir gestecktes Ziel erreicht haben, wenn der Leser mein Augenmerk auf die Lücken meiner Arbeit lenken wird. SUMMARY MEDICI HUNGARIE IN NUMMIS Commemorative Medals of Hungarian Physicians The first paper on medals to commemorate Hungarian physicians was published by Ödön Göhl in the 1911. issue of the Numdsmatical Review (Numizmatikai Közlöny). It was followed by Géza Faludi 's articles on the same topic in 1918, then in 1921, and, finally, a series published in 1924/25. The catalogue of the Faludi Collection, published in 1929 under the title „Medicina in Nummis", was a fairly complete list of Hungarian Physicians' medals issued until that date. The impressive work of Huszár and Procopius published in 1932 under the title „Medaillen- und Plakettenkunst in Ungarn" naturally includes medals made by Hungarian artists to commemorate physicians. The rich production of the last 26 years highly justifies both from the <nunrism,atical and the medico-historical angle, the compiling of a new catalogue on individual medals of Hungarian physicians. I have included in this list all physicians who have been in some kind of connection with my country. First of all, the Hungarian physicians who promoted the cause of hygiene of their country, whether in a leading position, or as journeymen of hygiene.
