TÖHÖTÖM SZABÓ Á. Moral principles in Transylvanian rural economy The author analyses the moral principles along which contemporary Transylvanian economy is organised. His argumentation is based on the concept of moral economy, which will be rethinked and adapted to Transylvanian context. The paper's starting point is that the system of moral principles that can be found in contemporary peasants' economy has its source in historical conditions and actual decisions aimed to optimise given resources. In this sense moral principles can be said to represent the mental foundation of economic systems. According to the traditional inquiry of moral economy, this essay analyses in a single model the two levels of the moral's working mechanism both in inner and outwards relationships. It also shows the features that define the relationship between community and political or economic power, and also that influence the normative picture formed by the community about the right living.
