ZSOLT SZÍJÁRTÓ Space, culture, and communication - cultural studies after the "cultural turn" The essay focus on three studies made by the Department for Communication and Media Studies at the University of Pécs. All of them were concerned with establishment of new types of space use, space systems and the reconfiguration of social and spatial relations. These studies indicate that after the lost of the guiding principles of social theory and of meta narratives space becomes one of the meeting points in everyday identity and group formation. As such it deserves a central place in social and cultural descriptions. The three studies aim at describing the different cultural experiences of time and space that are part of specific life worlds but also at recovering the process by that these experiences are fixed in different time and space conceptions.
