BÍRÓ-SEY KATALIN: COINS FROM IDENTIFIED SITES OF BRIGETIO AND THE QUESTION OF LOCAL CURRENCY / Régészeti Füzetek II/18. (Magyar Nemzeti Múzeum Budapest, 1977)
I. INTRODUCTION
7. Radnóti, A . : op. cit. 6-8. 8. Such grouping, statistical evaluation, or possibility of evaluation was dealt with by R.J. Keller. He considers scattered coins very important, but says, that to evaluate, they must be in large quantities. Keller, R. J . ; Bericht des Bayerischen Landesamtes für Denkmalpflege 1953-54, 56-64. 9. J . : op. cit. 62 The diagrams were prepared according to the following computation: we divided the number of coins from Brigetio of aech emperor by the number the years of their rule. Thus we obtained a yearly average figure and drafted it on the diagrams. In cases where the coin types could be limited to fewer years we divided these few years by the number of coins. 15. We cannot blame a private collector, when numismatists commited the same mistake. At the time of the publication of the Veszprém find, only 2,881 coins were published of the 8, 681 coins. The 2, 881 represented the coins in good condition. Kubitschek, W. - Voetter , P. : NZ 42 (I9O9), 119. 16. In the collection of the Numismatic Department of the Hungarian National Museum, Valentinian has 525, Valens 6oo, Gratian 26o, Valentinian II loo, Theodosius I !8o, Arcadius III, Magnus Maximus 14, Flavius Victor 7, Eugenius 4, and Honorius 36 coins. Theodosius I has more coins in the collection than Gratian. This ratio is characteristic to the scattered coins of Brigetio also. 17. Móc sy, A . : op. cit. 547. 18.
