MAJOROSHALOM (Fig. 2-3) Grave 1. (U, C) About 50 cm away from the pieces of the collapsed urn to the east there was a cup with a hand­le. Gd: 15 cm. - 1. Urn, black, with four ribs on its shoulder (Reconstr.) H: ca. 32 cm (Pl. 1 —1/1). 2. Cup with a handle, grey, with vertical line groups on its bulge (Incompl.) H: 5, B0: 3,5 cm (PI. 1—1/2). 3. Cup, undecorated, grey (Incompl.) H: 11, R0: 6,5, Bp: 4 cm (PI. 1-1/3). Grave 2. (U, C) There was a little cup in the collapsed urn among the ashes. Gd: 20 cm. - 1. Urn, brown (Incompl.) H: 26,5, Bp: 11,5 cm (PI. 1-2/1). 2. Cup, grey (Complete) H: 7,3, R0: 7,3, Bp: 4,2 cm (PI. 1-2/2). Grave 3. (? C) The grave was marked by two sideways turned dishes, each including a cup. Gd: 45 cm. 1. Dish, brown, with flat knots on its lip and shoulder, it stands on a hollow base (Rest.) H: 8,7, Rp: 17,4, Bp: 5,7 cm (PI. 1-3/1). 2. Cup, in the No. 1 Dish. Grey, with four knots on its bulge (Rest.) H: 6,5, Rp: 5,8, Bö: 3,5 cm (PI. 1-3/2). 3. Dish, brown, with four center ribs on its rim, three flat knots on its bulge (Rest.) H: 8,8, R0: 24,5, Bp: 7,1 cm (PI. 1—3/3). 4. Cup, in the No. 2 Dish. Grey, with scratched lines and scores on its shoulder, scored knots on its bulge (Complete) (PI. 1-3/4). Grave 4. (? C) Gd: 58 cm. - 1. Jar, yellow, with proportioned circular rib on its shoulder (Rest.) H: 23, B0: 10,5 cm (PI. 1-4/1). 2. Mug, brown, with two knots on its rim (Rest.) H: 18,8, R0: 13,1, Bp: 7,4 cm (PI. 1-4/2). 3. Cup, brown (Reconstr.) H: ca. 6 cm (PI. 1-4/3). 4. Cup, grey (Rest.) H: 10,2, Rp: 10,2 Bf : 5,5 cm (Pl. 1-4/4). Grave 5. (U, C) The dish with its lip up was on the urn, which was turned on its side. Gd: 30 cin. — 1. Urn, yellow, with proportioned rib on its shoulder (Rest.) H: 33,7, R0: 20,5, Bp: 11,2 cm (PI. 1-5/1). 2. Dish, brown, with four flat knots on its bent out rim (Rest.) H: 10,4, R0: 29,5, Bp: 9,7 cm (PI. 1-6/5). Grave 6. (U D) There were two mugs (2., 3.) in the dish with the drawn in Hp, and on top of its the pieces of another one (4.). It is verylikely that the cup and urn sherd found in an Avar grave about half a meter away were also part of this grave. Gd: 15 cm. 1. Dish, brown, with four knots on its rim and three knots on it shoulder (Complete H: 8,1, Rp: 18, Bp: 8 cm (PL 1—6/1). 2. Mug, yellow, with slanted scoring and small knots on its shoulder (Reconstr.) H: ca. 15 cm (PI. 1-6/2). 4. Mug, brown, with scoring on its shoulder (Incompl.) H: 13,5, Bp: 5,7 cm (PI. 1-6/4). 5. Cup, brown (Complete) H: 5, Rp: 5,9 (PI. 1-6/5). 6. Urn, sherds, evidence of thick clay. Grave 7. (Sag C) The badly burnt bones were situated in a circle of about 40 cm diameter. Among them there were a boat shaped stone-ax, and pieces of some bronze objects, and the destroyed sherds of a small cup. — 1. Bronze ring, of semicircular wire (Incompl.) o: 1,1 cm (PI. 1-7/1). 2. Bronze nuggets (PI. 1-7/2). 3. Stone-ax with hole for handle (Complete) H: 12, W: 5 cm. Its belonging to the grave is doubtful. 4. Cup, disintegrated during the excavation. Grave 8. (U C) The bronze objects were in the earth of the collapsed urn. Gd: 15 cm. - 1. Urn, black, slightly graphitic (!) there are ribs running down under each of the two band handles (Reconstr.) H: 40 cm (Pl. 1 -8/1). 2. Bronze bracelet, with diamond diameter, 0: 4,5 cm (Pl. 1 -8/2). 3. Bronze ring of circular wire (Incompl.) <f>: 2 cm (PI. 1-8/3). ' Grave 9. (U D) Gd: 5 cm. - 1. Urn, yellow, with flat knots on its ribbed rim and shoulder (Reconstr.) H: ca: 50 cm (PI. 2-9/1). 2. Jar, yellow, barrel shaped with 4A knots on its rim and shoulder respectively (Rest.) H: 23,3, Bp: 9,2 cm. Grave 10. (U C) There were the sherds of a dish, and pieces of a mug on top of the dish at the mouth of the sideways tilted urn; 55 cm away from the urn there was a cup. Gd: 75 cm. - 1. Dish, brown, with four flat knots on its rim (Rest.) H: 10,5, Ro: 17,2, Bo: 8 cm (PI. 2-10/1). 2. Mug, brown, undecorated (Reconstr.) (PL 2-10/2). 3-4. The fragmentary urn and the cup with a handle disintegrated. Grave 11. (? D) Gd: 60 cm. - 1. Cup, brown, with three knots on its bulge, and with omphalos on its bottom (Complete) H: 5,5, Rp: 5,4, Bp: 1 cm (PL 2-11/1). 9
