Ai, straight variety, 1.8 cm. Midrib. Narrow, less prominent. Overlaps. Front over back. Reinforce. Frontal reinforce, two domed iron rosettes inlaid with bone or coral, and gold. A short bar connects the rosettes. Loop. Type IIIA, 2.8 cm long by 1.5 cm broad. Loop-plates. The upper one is rounded, the lower one is tongue-shaped, both have central rivets. Chape­clamps. Round, domed, ornamented. Chape­bridge. Straight, resembling a bilateral reinforce together with the chape-clamps. Chape-end. Type Kosd D, with decorated discs on both sides. Design. 2ai+4b; Nav. 1+ mount ornamented: iron openwork mount with gold leaf backing under the reinforce and the chape­bridge. Sword Total length. 79 cm. Total length of hilt. 10 cm. Shagreened with a row of dotted circles on the left side of the scabbard and on both sides of the chape, and five (originally perhaps six) dotted circle punch marks between the dragon pair motif. Grave goods It proved impossible to separate the grave goods from 3 or 4 graves, which included two different sword chains, a spearhead, a spear-butt, a band-shaped shield boss, a "Hiebmesser", scissors, a wire fibula with bent­back foot and another sword.
