XI: 8. 124 This period (Otomani B) was labelled earlier as Hatvan-Otomani culture by the present author (MÁTHÉ 1984, 1986) emphasizing the synchronity reflected by the common features of these cultures. Nevertheless, it seems more appropriate to distinguish between the two cultures since the distribution of the Hatvan culture extended just until the Tisza valley, while the Otomani culture covered the areas east of it, namely the middle and northern part of the TransTisza region. 25 BADER 1978, Pl.
