XI. BONE OBJECTS OF UNKNOWN FUNCTION AND UNFINISHED WORKSHOPS PIECES

XI. BONE OBJECTS OF UNKNOWN FUNCTION AND UNFINISHED WORKSHOPS PIECES Objects the employment of which I did not risk to determine even hypothetically are narrowed down to three types of carvings. I could not find a way of employment for the small bone object ending in a hook the handle of which was lengthwise grooved, with two bores in the groove. (No. 860.) Similarly, I could not define the function of the bone pipes where at the end of the pipes small holes are perforated in a circle shape or there is another, small bore at the middle of one of the pipes. (Nos. 856-859.) Unfinished carvings have all come to the Museum from Dunapentele; there are scratches, traces of polish and cuts to be seen on them. These objects all support the fact also verified after the style of bone carvings, namely, that there was a bone processing workshop at Dunapentele, at the one-time Intercisa and the majority of carvings was produced here.
