In January the Szentendre Artists' Colony is formed, with the following founding members: Jenő Paizs Goebel, Miklós Bánovszky, József Bánáti Sverák, Henrik Heintz, Ernő Jeges, Béla Onódi, Lajos Pándy, László Rozgonyi. Vilmos Aba-Novák becomes a member of the Szinyei Society; he has a new daughter, Judit. Vilmos Aba-Novák and Károly Patkó, together with their artist friends, spend the summer once again at Igal.Together with several other artists, István Szőnyi, Vilmos Aba-Novák and Károly Patkó receive the newly announced Rome scholarship founded by the Hungarian state. The Marcell Nemes Foundation's Szinyei Landscape Prize is awarded to Jenő Paizs Goebel and Paizs Goebel and the graphical compositions of Aba-Novák, Tarjáni Simkovics and Nándor Lajos Varga. The members of the etching generation take part in the International graphics exhibition in Florence. 1928 The Budapest Museum of Fine Arts pur­chases Károly Patkó's painting, Village Scene. Aba-Novák and Patkó take part in the Venice Biennial; in the rest of his life, Aba-Novák sends works to this event every second year. In November, the Munkácsy Guild organises its first exhibition at the National Salon; the artists invited to take part include, among others, Aba-Novák, Patkó, Paizs Goebel, Jeges, Derkovits, Barcsay, Bánk and Korda. The works of Szőnyi, Aba-Novák, Korb and Patkó are included in the Budapest Museum of Fine Arts newly opened perma­nent exhibition, New Hungarian Gallery. The National Salon organises the first UME (Uj Művészek Egyesülete; Society of New Artists) exhibition in February. István Bethlen and Mussolini hold negoti­ations in Milan in the beginning of April. Olga Szentpál és Máriusz Rabinovszky publish their book entitled Tánc [Dance] in June. In September Lajos Kassák launches his "art and social" magazine Munka (Workj. The Hungarian Literary and Art Congress is convened in October; the criticism sec­tion is presided over by Károly Lyka and the painting section by István Csók. The Tamás Gallery is opened. 1911 In January, Vilmos Aba-Novák, Károly Patkó and István Szőnyi start their Rome scholarship. In January István Szőnyi has his third ret­rospective exhibition at the Ernst Museum. Two of Szőnyi's works shown at his 1929 exhibition are purchased by the Budapest Museum of Fine Arts: Scene at the Riverside and Zebegény by Night; another two, Viaduct and a Self-Portrait, are bought by the Capital Gallery. Among others, Aba-Novák, Korda and Farkas Molnár participate at the KUT exhibition in January. The central group of statues (György Zala) of the Millennial Memorial Monument and the Memorial Stone for National Heroes (Róbert Kertész K.) on Hero's Square is unveiled in May. The Great Depression begins with the collapse of the New York stock exchange in October.
