Pécs Artists' Circle is formed; its members include Farkas Molnár, Henrik Stefán, Hugójohan and Jenő Gábor. On the initiative of István Réti and Károly Lyka, reforms at the Academy of Fine Arts begin. Gyula Szekfű publishes his Három nemzedék [Three Generations). In the first years of the decade István Szőnyi visits various regions, including Budakalász, in search of motifs for his paintings and drawings. Vilmos Aba-Novák paints in Tarján and Bodajk. On the invitation of Gyula Batthyány, Ernő Jeges, Antal Deli and Lajos Pándy set up an Artists' Colony at Bicske. In April, Farkas Molnár, Henrik Stefán and Hugójohan set out on an Italian journey; after Autumn they study at the Bauhaus in Weimar. Until 1922, Nándor Lajos Varga and Imre Nagy work at the Kecskemét Artists' Colony. 1921 In January, in addition to the Spring Exhibition, the National Salon organises an exhibition to present the works of the Bicske Artists' Colony. In May István Szőnyi exhibits two of his paintings at the Spring Exhibition of the Palace of Art's. In September, the Ernst Museum organises István Szőnyi's first retrospective exhibition in the form of its XVI Ith Group Exhibition. In September, Nándor Lajos Varga exhibits two of his works at the Autumn Show of the National Salon. The irredenta statues symbolising the parts of the country torn away are revealed on Liberty Sguare in January. István Bethlen forms his cabinet. The Debrecen University is named after István Tisza. A resolution is passed establishing the Szeged and Pécs universities. Parliament resolves to dethrone the Habsburg House in November. The Nyugat publishes Tibor Déry's essay on Dadaism and Iván Hevesy's study on the isms (A művészet agóniája; The Agony of Art). The Gallery Belvedere is opened. In early 1922, in the second semester of the academic year of 1921-1922, teaching officially starts at the Graphics Department of the Academy of Fine Arts under Viktor Olgyai's direction; the first students to enroll in March are Vilmos Aba-Novák and Jenő Tarjáni Simkovics; Károly Patkó and Nándor Lajos Varga are among those who start the next academic year here. István Szőnyi shares a studio with Pál Pátzay; in the Spring they invite József Nemes Lampérth, who stays with them throughtout the rest of the year, until his confinement to a mental hospital; Szőnyi visits the Kecskemét Artists' Colony; the Szinyei Society elects the artist to its membership. 1922 In January, the painters working at Bicske (Ernő Jeges, Antal Deli, Lajos Pándy) exhibit their works in the National Salon. In February-March, Károly Patkó, jointly with the sculptor Henrik Schönbauer, exhibits in the Belvedere. In September, the material of the Ernst Museum's XXth Group Exhibition includes an extensive collection of AbaNovák's graphical works and some of Ernő Jeges' paintings. In November, at the Szinyei Society's first exhibition in the National Salon four of Szőnyi's compositions are shown. In November, the Belvedere organises an exhibition for Gyula Derkovits. In June, the third Bethlen cabinet is formed; Kunó Klebelsberg is appointed Minister for Religion and Public Education; he holds this seat until August 1931. Hungary is granted admission to the League of Nations in September. The National Archives, the National Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Applied Arts, and the University Library are integrated in the framework of the National Hungarian Collections Universe in September. Uj művészek könyve ( The Book of New Artists) edited by Lajos Kassák and László Moholy-Nagy appears in Vienna. Iván Hevesy publishes his essay
