characteristics are far from general but occur often enough to associate them with him. Unlike Bogdáni he sometimes dated his pictures. The earliest of these are from the late 1710s, the latest from 1731. This is some help but not enough to chart with any reliability his development, especially if one considers the length of his lifespan. A larger corpus of safely attributed paintings than available at present and more biographical information is needed for a just assessment of Stranover's 46 oeuvre.
