The Hungarian National Gallery's Art Workshop for Children and Young People (Árpád Szabados)
31. Exhibition of the Art Workshop for Children and Young People in the National Gallery, 1988. might seem too particular but this is the best way to show the kinds of problems, including professional ones, we can get immersed in without speaking about art. Most of the classes are build on play, self-expression, agility and the joy of doing things together, In contrast to many, we maintain that there are very few truly talented children, no more than there are talented adults. But people without special talents also have immense creative powers that simply must not be left untapped. Any mark we make leaves a mark on us as well and so the quality of what we do does matter. It follows from the above that there is no selective admission to the Workshop. The members only exhibit at the common (Workshop) show — anonymously. Our aim is to help them develop into personalities with a keen sense of self-criticism and high demands on themselves by making them aware of their abilities and skills. And we should like to have them realize that works of art could be of great help to them in this process. Árpád Szabados Workshop Direktor
