„For the public, for the community " (PR-activities in the Museum of Hungarian Agriculture) ANNAMÁRIA RÁCZ SZABÓNÉ SOÓS It is the fundamental interest of every cultural institute to keep in touch with its visitors (as it is formulated in the philosophy of the Museum of Hungarian Agriculture: to mediate the past and results of the Hungarian agriculture to the public), and to awaken trust in its activity. The desirable Public Relations help with building this trust, and make an effort to have benificial effect on the public of the inside and outside environments, supposing the relationship between the public and the institute. The confidence, placed in the institute, should be accompanied — beside authenticity — with human values such as reliablility, sincerity and respect. In her study the author analyzes the inside and outside relations of the Museum of Hungarian Agriculture , calls one's attention to the importance of bringing these into harmony, since every area of Public Relations has an effect on the museum. The author attaches importance to the streaming of imformation, not only in the outside relations of the museum but also inside the institute, since every colleague takes part in the creation of the exhibitions and programmes. In the interest of a successful communication the museum endeavours to follow with attention the visitors' demands and tries to satisfy them efficiently. The application of the PR-activities have begun also in the Museum of Hungarian Agriculture. As part of this the main ambition of the museum is to establish its press relations discussed in detail in the study in as a wide range as possible to nurse the existing relations, to create the profile of the institute, to confirm the team spirit, etc. Public relations may lay the foundation of the successfulness of cultural institutes in a long run by establishing a mutual goodwill and trust between their visitors and their environments.
