FARKAS GYÖNGYI: Propaganda és agitáció - Kollektivizálás Veszprém megyében (1948-1956)
Propaganda of the collectivisation (1948-1956) in Veszprém county GY. FARKAS In Hungary in the fifties the collectivisation of agriculUire was a major aim of economic and social policy. The leaders of the collectivisation were fully aware, that the restrictive economic policy and other administrative actions would force the small holders to give up their independent farming and join the kolkhoz. In spite of this fact they declared the voluntary principle of forming collective farms and made huge propaganda to convince the small holders of the superiority of collective farm system. The paper deals with the kolkhoz campaign carried on in one county, based on documents from local and national archives as well as on newspapers, brochures and other publications of the period. (Veszprém c. is situated in the middle of Transdanubia). The propaganda was centrally directed, so the arguments and means used were similar all over the country. In the campaign not only conventional means (press, radio, cinema, political meetings, leaflets, posters and brochures) were used, but special form of kolkhoz-propaganda (like visiting model kolkhozes in the Soviet Union and in Hungary), and also the arsenal of the aggressive communist campaigning (doorstep campaign).
