IMRE HRONSZKY: VAPOUR DENSITY MEASUREMENTS AND THEIR EFFECT ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF 19th-CENTURY CHEMICAL ATOMIC THEORY Vapour density measurements played a very important role in the development ot chemical atomic theory in the first half of the 19th century. The paper describes and analyses the process of how the results of the measurements first played a falsifying and later a verifying role in this story.
