TANULMÁNYOK - Garamvári Pál: 100 Years of the Carburetor
— upon Mechwart's request — in the work. In a short time, cooperation between Bánki and Csonka became Instrumental In evolvement of the Hungarian motor production, and development of the technical (engineering) sciences in this country. Bánki as man of theory and Csonka as man of practice were complementary to each other superbly. Scene of the common activity was the Ganz Factory at the outset, later they continued work in the engineering shop of the Technical University which resulted in a number of inventions. They had these inventions patented together. Their applications for patents were submitted as follows: 19th January, 1889: Innovations on gas engines 14th March, 1889: Steering gear for four-cycle engines 11th April, 1889: Innovations on gas and petrol engines The engines were put into circulation under the name „Ganz-motor" but the fact that they were manufactured on the base of the Bánki-Csonka patents has also been recorded on the data plate. These were the first motors manufactured professionally in Hungary. Results having attained so far encouraged the two inventors In building a new engine, which had an independent design and contained their former inventions. The planning process and construction were started almost simultaneously and engines were further-improved during the execution. Presentation of this motor to the general public took place in a lecture delivered on 10th February, 1893 in the organization of National Association of Hungarian Economy. 1.
