TANULMÁNYOK - Gajdos Gusztáv: A magyar mérleggyártó ipar megszületése, kialakulása a XIX–XX. században (1850–1945)

This factory was enlarged in 1878 by a new plant located in Budapest, Rottenbiller Street 12, soon becoming the fundamental basis of the Hungarian industrial balance production. By the end of the 19th century, the Schember factory, registering several successes on home and foreign exhibitions, was counted already among the „firstclass" factories of Pest, while the balance producing was further extended by numerous plants in the capital and countryside, as well. In the initial period of the Hungarian industrial revolution, our balance producing industry joined the European standard at a proper of progress. In the first half of the 20th century, the Hungarian balance producing industry enlargened and its products, standardized balances, meeting the requirements of international specifications, have become well-known and spread on the European markets, too. In addition to balances discussed in this study, the Hungarian Museum for Science and Technology preserves in its collection several balances as technological, industrial-historical documents demonstrating the universal progress of the balance industry. The paper is finished by a monography containing mainly home craftsmen, factories, companies dealing with balance industry.
