MATERIAL ON THE HISTORY OF TECHNOLOGY OF THE PERIOD OF ABSOLUTISM IN THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES, WITH PARTICULAR RESPECT TO THE DEVELOPMENT OP THE MINING INDUSTRY For research workers in the field of mining history, the paper offers a summary on the principles and system followed by the categorization of the written material on the Hungarian history of mining in the period of Absolutism (1848 — 1867), as applied by the National Archives. This had been a rather rich material, but the Second World War has destroyed most of it. The various Austrian archives still have a number of valuable mining and engineering history documents, maps, etc, from the age of the 16

th to 19

th century, but this material has never been reviewed by Hungarian research workers so far.
