HOPP FERENC MÚZEUM - MUSÉE FERENC HOPP - Cseh, Éva: K'ang-hsi and Other Blue and White Porcelains from the 18th Century

Our next, ware is also bearing K ? ang-hsi nien bao. (figs. 4a — b) On the nock of tbe thin-walled ballusler vase there are two, triangle-shaped, curling holding ears. Its ba>e is low, its bottom is caved in. Two third of the vase is covered by ornamentation: downwards from the neck, a five-clawed dragon, whimsically curling its body up and down, then a treasure ball, surrounded by flames. Design of the dragon is fairly full of mannerism. The marking in double square on the bottom of the vase is: Ta Ch'ing K'ang-hsi nien chi. Calligraphy of the marking is well defined. It might have been made during the late period of K'ang-hsi's reign. Inventory number: 599, from the collection of P. Höpp. Height: 31,2 cm.
