The only facts, known about the site and conditions of discovery of the figurine of reliable provenance, excavated in Sari Dheri are as follows: the lower stratas contain only a few Mohenjo-daro, Harappa and Chanhu-daro statues of close affinity; a unique type of Mother Goddess, called "Mother Goddess of Sari Dheri" was found and there were many figurines of Maurya provenance, while the discoveries in the upper stratas are of hellenistic nature.
