HOPP FERENC MÚZEUM — MUSÉE FERENC HOPP - Felvinczi Takáts, Zoltán: A Short Supplement to Some Notes to the Bronzes and Other Objects of the Chinese Collection III
ZOLTÁN FELVINCZI-TAKÁTS A SHORT SUPPLEMENT TO SOME NOTES TO THE BRONZES AND OTHER OBJECTS OF THE CHINESE COLLECTION III May I annex a short supplement 1 . The Francis Hopp Museum acquired in Budapest a splendid Chinese round dish of very solid make in Hsüan Te bronze. Its whole surface is absolutely smooth, except the bottom, standing on three very short feet, being its surface quasi damaskeened and having on its roundish wall two very anthropomorphic lion's mask acting the part of t'ao-t'ie. We have to do in this case with analogies, but I dare to assert that these lion's masks on the bronze dish are in the same measure anthropomorphic as our squatting demon's beastly face is. 1 This Supplement was written by the late author in summer of 1964, when it was already late to add it to his paper, Some Notes to the Bronzes and Other Object of the Chinese Collection III, published in vol. VII (1964), pp. 203-210. of our Yearbook. The height of the bowl. : 8.3 cm, the diameter: 28.3 cm. Inv. nr. : 6106.
