Fig. 7. Aksobhya Opposite the goddes we see Amitabha (Fig. 10) on a lotus throne, in dhyänäsana, folding his hands in a ,,meditating" posture and holding an alms bowl. His body is covered by a garment thrown over his left shoulder and behind him there is a halo w T hich encircles his head. The portraits of our manuscripts form a system logical in itself, streng­thened by the fact that the hands of each goddess, with the exception of Mahäsähasrapramardani, are held according to the hands of the corresponding Dhyänibuddha. Approaching the end of the manuscript, on page 140 w T e find a miniature showing a stüpa, flanked on both sides by two male figures dressed in contem­porary costumes and wearing turbans.
