A detail of the Japanese Exhibition exhibitions became larger with the concession of the Palace George Rath and its park in which a standing exhibition was established with the name of the Chinese Museum. In 1945 the staff numbered the director and two qualified assistants : at present it consists of 6 research workers. The assistant personnel is four times larger than in 1945. The financial support of the state, especially the sum accorded for the acquisition of objects of art and literature is 30—40 times larger than before the war. In accordance with the cultural policy of the Hungarian People's Democracy, the support given the museum increases annually, opening up ever larger perspectives for our museum. The aims of the memorial exhibition are therefore to commemorate Ferenc Hopp, the founder of the museum, to present the most important pieces of the original material, to illustrate the evolution of the museum by presenting the most prominent works of art acquired after the Liberation, and to emphasize the large-scale aid rendered by the People's Republics of China, Corea and Vietnam, having presented many important works of art. Our exhibition called "The Art of Asia" does not intend to show the art of Asiatic peoples in their historical evolution. Exhibitions of this type on the art of India in the Ferenc Hopp Museum and on that of China in the China Museum are open to the public as standing exhibitions. The new exhibi-
