GABOR BETHLEN - THE GOLD OF TRANSYLVANIA AND THE LION OF THE NORTH - COMMENTS UPON AN EXHIBITION With reference to the temporary exhibition tided "Gabor Bethlen - The Gold of Transylvania and the Lion of the North" that took place in the autumn of 2004, in the central building of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the author introduces the extensive preparations for an exhibition and the various stages of its organisation. The study offers a practical guide to the process of planning and arranging. In diis particular case, the backbone of the exhibition was provided by Prince Gabor Bethlen's sometime gift to King Gustav II Adolph of Sweden, items that had been loaned from the Royal Swedish Armoury in Stockholm. The author points out that the making of an exhibition requires complex teamwork: an appropriate tide, a scenery draft, a scenario, graphic design, a catalogue, a publicity campaign and a budget must all be ensured. Previous experience and a skilled building team can make the job somewhat easier, although unexpected difficulties and requirements may always emerge. The study discusses and emphasises the importance of the protection of the works of art under the conditions provided by the exhibition hall and the showcases. Taking the above-mentioned features into consideration, the joint efforts resulted in the high-level installation of the items from Sweden and from various Hungarian collections. GABOR BETLHEN - GOLD VON SIEBENBÜRGEN UND DER LÖWE DES NORDEN -AM RANDE EINER AUSSTELLUNG Die Abhandlung stellt im Zusammenhang mit der Ausstellung „Gabor Bethlen Gold von Siebenbürgen und der Löwe des Norden", die im Herbst 2004 im Zentralgebäude des Akademie der Wissenschaften veranstaltet wurde, die vielseitigen Vorbereitungsarbeiten, die verschiedenen Phasen der Vorbereitung und der Veranstaltung dar. Mit der Hilfe der Abhandlung durch das Beispiel einer Ausstellung erfährt man, welche praktische Kenntnisse sind notwendig, eine Ausstellung vorzubereiten und zu verwirklichen. Im Mittelpunkt der Ausstellung stand die Gruppe der Kunststücke, die von der Stockholmer Waffensammlung an Ungarn ausgeliehen wurde. Die Ausstellungstücke gelangten einst als Geschenk von dem Fürsten Gabor Bethlen in den Besitz des Schwedenkönigs Gustav Adolph II. Der Autor weist darauf hin, dass die Voraussetzung der Verwirklichung einer Ausstellung die sehr komplexe Teamarbeit ist. Man soll den entsprechenden Titel wählen. Im weiteren sind ein visueller Plan, ein Drehbuch, graphische Pläne, ein
